After surgery, I was on my way home and I stopped at a drive-thru to order dinner. The lady asked if I wanted the ‘special sauce’ and I said yes. When I went to the next window, they asked me to pull over because my order wasn’t ready yet.

I proceeded to watch 2, then 3, and then 4 cars come and go with their orders. I started to get perturbed because I was still sitting there waiting. The lady walked out and tapped on my window and apologized for the long wait. She handed me my food and explained that when you order with the ‘special sauce,’ they make it special just for you and it takes longer.

If you’re praying to the Lord, fasting, and asking Him again and again, and still not receiving your order yet, could it be that He’s working on your ‘special sauce?’ Maybe He’s saying, “I have a special child who is making a special order, and I need to make them a special sauce.”

Life often presents us with situations where we find ourselves waiting for something—a job promotion, healing, a breakthrough, or an answer to our prayers. Sometimes, the waiting period can be frustrating and disheartening, especially when we see others around us receiving their blessings while ours seem delayed.

Isaiah 40:31 says,

But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

I’d like to add a ‘Gospel of Eric’ verse… “and they shall get their special sauce.”

In our fast-paced world, waiting is often seen as a burden, a waste of time. However, the story of the special sauce reminds us that waiting can have a purpose and a profound impact on our lives. Instead of becoming discouraged or comparing our journey to others, we can find solace in the knowledge that God is diligently working on our behalf.

Lessons Learned from Waiting:

  1. Divine Timing: Waiting teaches us the importance of trusting in God’s timing. It reminds us that His plans are often beyond our comprehension and that He orchestrates everything for our ultimate good.
  2. Character Development: The waiting period can refine our character and strengthen our faith. It teaches us patience, resilience, and the ability to surrender control to a higher power.
  3. Personalized Blessings: Just like the ‘special sauce’ made specifically for each customer, God’s blessings for us are unique and tailored to our individual needs. By waiting patiently, we allow Him to prepare something extraordinary for us.
  4. Building Trust: Waiting on God deepens our trust in Him. It encourages us to rely on His faithfulness and unwavering love, even when circumstances seem uncertain.

It’s possible that your prayers, fasting, and persistent requests have led God to create a special order that requires time and attention. As we wait for our ‘special sauce,’ let us hold on to hope, renew our strength, and trust that God’s blessings will come at the perfect moment.

God is in the kitchen doing something special just for you, and all you have to do is wait for it.
